El Poker en la música 2. Sting. The shape of my heart

Shape of my Heart (no confundir con la canción escrita por Lisa Miskovsky para los Backstreet Boys) aparece, en 1993, en el disco de Sting Summoner´s tales. Tampoco habla explícitamente de que sea poker, pero se juega con una baraja francesa (diamantes, tréboles, picas, corazones). La canción apareció en la banda sonora de la película Leon, donde Jean Reno interpreta el papel de un asesino a sueldo.

Esta vez, la partida no es el centro de la historia, si no la circunstancia. En el primer párrafo se describe el ritual del protagonista:

El repartee las cartas como una meditación
Y aquellos con los que juega no sospechan
que él no juega por el dinero que gana
No juega por respeto
Reparte cartas para encontrar la respuesta
La sagrada geometría de un cambio
La ley oculta de un probable resultado
Los números liederan un baile.

La partida puede ser una circunstancia del protagonista o la historia una metáfora de situaciones de la vida real, como en tantas otras canciones. El no juega con las mismas motivaciones que el resto de jugadores. Como siempre, con las metáforas se podría dar vueltas y vueltas y quizá no encontraríamos el sentido original que el compositor quiso darle a la letra. Esa es la gracia de una buena letra; que cada uno pueda darle la interpretación que quiera.
